We spent an unforgettable three days at Northern Lights Village, admiring the Northern Lights through our glass-roof, relaxing in our private sauna and tasting the delicious lappish delicacies at the restaurant.
This review will take you through everything you need to know about Northern Lights Village Levi, from its breathtaking location to the luxurious amenities, unique activities and why it should be at the top of your list for your next Arctic adventure.
Location and surroundings
Northern Lights Village is located in the serene wilderness of Northern Lapland, just 25 minutes from Levi, one of Finland’s most popular ski resorts. While there are multiple Northern Lights Village locations, this review focuses on the one in Levi.
This Northern Lights Hotel offers the perfect blend of seclusion and accessibility, surrounded by snow-covered forests and tranquil frozen lakes, while still being within easy reach of Levi’s town centre.
As one of the most unique stays in Lapland, Northern Lights Village Levi is perfect for those looking for a mix of adventure and luxury, with thrilling outdoor adventures like skiing, hiking and snowmobiling on your doorstep.
It’s also perfect for chasing the aurora borealis, due to its isolated location in the wilderness.

Accommodation & Room Types
Northern Lights Village Levi offers two exceptional room types, each designed to provide a unique and luxurious experience.
You can choose between the Aurora Cabin or the Aurora Suite, both of which offer the perfect blend of comfort and Arctic charm. The Cabins are similar, but the Aurora Suite is larger and features more amenities.
We stayed in the Aurora Suite, and we’re in awe of the beautiful cabin and its luxurious features. Our experience was truly unforgettable!
Aurora Cabins
The Aurora Cabins feature laser heated sky windows, allowing you to enjoy unobstructed views of the starry sky and Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed. Each cabin is thoughtfully designed with a cosy, minimalist Scandinavian interior.
Inside, you’ll find a comfy bed, toilet and showers, a small table and sofa, electric fireplace and complimentary tea and coffee. The Cabins also feature a tablet with interactive services so you can contact reception and review your itinerary.
It also has aurora alerts to notify you when the northern lights are visible! Overall, these cabins are perfect for couples, solo travellers and friends; offering a cosy arctic experience.
Aurora Suites
The Aurora Suites elevate the luxury experience even further, with additional space and enhanced amenities for a more indulgent stay.
Each suite features an expansive glass roof, king-size bed, separate lounge area with an electric fireplace, premium coffee machine, and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and high-end bath products.
In our opinion, the best feature of this cabin is the private sauna, allowing you to unwind after a day in the arctic!
The suite’s design emphasises both luxury and functionality, and can accommodate up to 5 people; perfect for families, groups of friends, or couples looking for a luxurious stay.

Dining Experience – Food & Beverage
Northern Lights Village has an on-site buffet restaurant and cafe, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
On-Site Restaurant
The on-site restaurant at Northern Lights Village provides a delicious range of local Lappish dishes and international cuisines.
The meals are made from high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, with a set menu that changes daily, allowing you to try a variety of foods throughout your stay.
During our stay, we tried traditional Lappish dishes such as Reindeer Soup (enjoyed by Rory, while I, as a vegetarian, had a flavourful cauliflower soup).
The food was absolutely delicious, and the dining experience was as memorable as the stay itself.
Café
Outside of dining hours, you can relax in the restaurant area around the fire, with a variety of hot or cold drinks.
It’s the perfect spot to relax with a coffee while taking in the cosy surroundings.
Service & Staff
The staff at Northern Lights Village were welcoming and helpful during our stay, and the service was exceptional.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with kindness and the check-in process was smooth and efficient, with staff providing a detailed overview of the resort’s facilities and activities.
When we checked into our igloo, our hot water was having issues (it was brand new, and we were the first to use the Igloo), but they immediately sent out maintenance staff and fixed the issue straight away.
The same maintence staff also helped us to unfreeze our parking brake on our departure. On that subject, do not use your parking break in the Arctic – you will get stuck!
